SharePoint Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SharePoint enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

We have a WSS 3 Sp3 implementation running under SBS 2008. We are only an office of 10 staff and our SharePoint use is not heavy although we do have a few sites and subsites. All of our content is in "sharewebdb" but "WSS_Content" also exists. "WSS_Content" appears to be empty.

Our sharewebdb.mdf has grown to 55 GB which seems very excessive given the scale of our implementation and the content the database houses. We don't use versioning much and the bulk of the content (54,015.430 MB) seems to be held in the dbo.AllDocStreams table of sharewebdb.

The sharewebdb database is now eating most of our disk space, I need to find a way to reduce it's size or add more disk space. I have tried shrinking the database but there is only about 20 MB available. The site recycle bins are empty. Is there another safe way for me to reduce the size of this database?

Cheers.
