SharePoint Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SharePoint enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am using SharePoint 2010. My Excel file is saved in document library. The data connection library has the data source, which brings the data into Excel from SQL Server 2012 cube.

The problem is when I click on Data refresh in SharePoint ther is an error:

"Unable to refresh data for a data connection in the workbook. Try again or contact your system administrator. The following connections failed to refresh: "

All conditions are met:

  1. This document library where my Excel file is is set as trusted.
  2. The data provider MOLAP.5 I am using is also trusted.
  3. Data connection ins in trusted Data Connection Library.
  4. Secure Store Service is set and used in Excel connection Authentication.

There are some other files working with similar settings. The only difference is that those files are connecting to another cube on the same server.

No issue if I try to refresh data in Excel spreadsheet connected to the cube.

As soon as SharePoint gets involved - things are going wrong.

Seriously it looks like big deal refreshing data from SharePoint. I so tones of questions for this on the net and most of the answers are linked to the 4 conditions above , which I met already.

Could you please help ?
