SharePoint Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SharePoint enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm fairly new with SharePoint and I'm currently working with SharePoint Foundation 2010 and SharePoint Designer 2010. Prior to that I was working in the Cloud version of SharePoint.

I somewhat know how to make sites and subsites and such, but I would like to make it possible for different users to see different site designs/interfaces. For example, I as an administrator want to see the Quick Launch everywhere, want to be able to edit the site via the Site Options and want to be able to edit pages. But a regular user who can only read or view the site, should not be seeing this Quick Launch and neither should he/she see the Site Options, nor be able to edit pages. Not being able to edit pages and such, that can be arranged. But how do I edit the complete site in such a manner that an end user (with read-only permissions) never sees the Quick Launch? I was thinking this has to do with the master page but I'm not comfortable with editing a master page...

I am very sorry if this is a silly question. It's just that I haven't found it by myself yet and I'm not quite sure which search conditions this fits to.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
