sharepoint 2003, delete and recreate Document library: permissions problem

Question

I have a document library which I need to delete and recreate in Sharepoint 2003. But the document library has unique permissions and doesn't inherit from the parent. Is there any procedure where upon I delete & recreate the document library, all the unique permissions are saved and retrieved. Also, any suggestion on the recreation of the document library is appreciated. I had my hands on Moss 2007 but not 2003.
