I've got a feeling I'm in for a world of pain here but all of a sudden (I can't think of what might have caused it) my central admin is giving me a 503 error and when I attempt to access my site I'm getting an:
"System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.UserProfileApplicationProxy.get_ApplicationProperties() "
Is there someway I can do some sort of reset (or at least some checks to attempt to diagnose the issue) here through powershell or something?
ANY help at all greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: I can get to _layouts/settings.aspx. So I'm making the assumption is with my home.aspx - but I'm running in debug mode and not getting an error in VS so I'm assuming it's configuration?
I have checked through IISManager that only anonymous and windows authentication are enabled for my SharePoint Web Services site.
EDIT
===========================================
Ridiculous of me to omit this detail - yesterday my windows password expired; so obviously, this is affecting the authentication. What's the best way to deal with a password expiry having this sort of impact?
I've ran:
"stsadm -o updatefarmcredentials -userlogin "domain\my_user" -password "password""
And noticed my sharepoint central admin service was stopped in the application pools section of IIS - so started it. Now it's a 500 error. Having no luck here.
That previous command has now granted me access to the main site. I can now continue development fortunately - still no luck with central admin though and it's only a matter of time before I'll need to access it.
