My sp site has two zones: Default http://intranet.mycompany.com and Intranet https://intranet.mycompany.com the only difference being the secure site on the intranet zone.

When an OOTB approval workflow is started automatically on file creation the links in the email sent point back to the file and workflow using the DEFAULT zone rather than the INTRANET zone (where the workflow was initiated). MY users do not have access to login via the default zone.

I have looked around the workflow in designer and cannot seem to manually recreate the links that were being used.

Is it possible to change the default behaviour of workflows?

Did you ever find a solution? I'm facing the same issue. At least, Microsoft is saying this is a known behavior (social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/eu/sharepoint2010general/…) – Steve B Oct 3 '12 at 15:15
