Please help me

I’m new in share point and it’s not cleared for me the requirement

I have a server with SharePoint 2010 in Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bits) and I want to create a workflow with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 but according with some information I can’t use Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 in Windows server 2008 R2 (64 bits) therefore I installed the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 in mi laptop with Windows 7 but I don’t know what do I need to install for develop workflow in my lap top.

It’s not clear form me right now

Could you help me? Is it possible? Or what is your recommendation
