SharePoint Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SharePoint enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a site collection in SharePoint 2010 that includes custom webparts and it is fully operational on my development server, which is just my desktop with Windows 7. For your knowledge, the webparts were developed in Visual Studio 2010 using .NET 3.5 library. Once I move the site over to my client's servers via BKP file and WSP, the two custom webparts on their respective pages are missing parts. For instance, I have an email form (custom webpart) with input boxes and a Send button, but only two out of the seven input boxes are being displayed on the screen, and the Send button is not visible. The page is simply shorter.

I am developing locally using my desktop on Windows 7, and I am not sure if this makes a huge difference or not. I also do not have access to my client's intranet, which is a huge mistake on their part. It will take a couple of days to be included in their system, so hopefully any advice can be executed without having to view the site as it exists on their server. But any information would be extremely helpful. My client is pushing hard on my at the moment. It is a catastrophe on so many different levels, I know.

Have any of you ever encountered this situation before

If you remove them and re-add the web parts do they work? I've had that issue before, but the whole web part didn't render, instead of some pieces rendering and some not. –  RJ Cuthbertson Sep 12 '12 at 17:24

I would start by verifying that the production server you are targeting is configured similar to your development server (really it should as close to an exact copy as possible) Specifically, verify which .NET frameworks are being used. –  Ray Oct 10 '12 at 18:12
