SharePoint Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SharePoint enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I made a site, and I want to be able to use this site as a template for new ones. My goal is to get all of the layout of the page onto a new site, but leave the quick links bar alone on the new site if possible. Here are the steps I took:

I went to Site Settings, then Save Site as Template

I saved the site following the instructions (I have tried this both with and without the "include content" box checked)

I went to the solutions gallery and downloaded the template as the .wsp file

I went to the new website and uploaded the file to the solutions gallery

I then created a new subsite, and used this template when creating it The only part of the new subsite that was changed was the quick links bar, but everything else was the same.

If anyone knows what I did wrong, I would greatly appreciate the help.
