As I understand it, if I have the authentication mode set to BDC Identity in an External List, the username of the user that is logged on to SharePoint should be the same username to check if it has access to the SQL Server database. I have another user with full control access in SharePoint, but not on the database used for the External Content list but CAN see the list.
