Connect Date Filter Web Part to a List

Question

I am currently trying to connect a Date Filter Web Part to a list, where the date filter will be filtering based on the list items Created feild. It connectes but the disconnects.

Below are the steps I am following:

1. Click the arrow to show the Connections link

2. Click connections > Send Filter Values To > "List Name"

3. I get a Dialog Box for the consumer("List Name") where I then select "Get Filter Values From"
4. Click Configure Select Consumer Field name "Created" and click finish

The web partstates that the webpart is connected, but once i save the page and return it is no longer connected.

Does anyone know why this would be behaving as such? Any feedback would be very much appreciated.
