i created a Permission Level(by the name JustEditItems) which whoever have it can only edit list items.
when i click on ECB menu on a item i can see the edit item, which means i can edit items, but why the edit icon on the edit field won't show up?
any other solution to this approach?
here is the list of permissions base of The permission level(JustEditItems):

List Permissions
Edit Items
View Items
Open Items

Site Permissions
View Pages
Browse User Information
Use Client Integration Features
Open
Edit Personal User Information

Could you paste in the list of permissions for the permission level? If you created a View, are you sure you also checked the Edit Button field? – C. Marius May 12 '12 at 10:10
of course i did. otherwise the edit field itself not gonna show up. – Jalali Shakib May 15 '12 at 7:18
