I'm currently maintaining a SharePoint 2007 website. On the German version of the site, the special "umlaut" characters are being displayed incorrectly. This, however, only occours welcome page. On the rest of the site, these special characters seems to display correctly.

Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this problem? Thanks in advance :)

Edit: I've come to notice that this is not restricted to the welcome page. It appears to be on webparts in general.

Does you welcomepage page layout have the same DOCTYPE as the other page layouts? – Per Jakobsen Apr 10 '12 at 10:35
Yes, it appears so. But I've noticed that it is actually WebParts being affected, and not solely the welcome page. – mxrfxr Apr 11 '12 at 7:38
