SharePoint Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SharePoint enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am a windows administrator, with 10+ years experience of server and desktop support/admin etc...

I have recently been tasked with setting up a sharpoint site, I plumped for foundation 2010.

The site is succesfully installed and running. However I keep running into the same issue, which is when I try to create a new form in sharpoint designer 2010 I get the following error message

Could not save the list changes to the server

I have checked the server logs and can not see anything obvious in there, also I am in the site collection administrators, and a member of local administrators plus all the sharepoint and SQL local groups as well on the server.

I have looked around the WWW and found the answers in the two links below but neither works to fix this issue

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/br/sharepoint2010customization/thread/eba4cd7e-498a-465f-adea-decae44d7a8c

If any of you can shed any light on this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

What does your ULS logs say? Anything in the event viewer? Also what version of SharePoint are you running with updates/CUs? – Mike Mar 15 '12 at 18:56
Hi Mike, I am using sharepoint 2010 foundation, I can not see anything in the event viewer, what is the ULS log? what are CU's? – MrWhippy Mar 19 '12 at 12:25
The ULS logs are usually in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS". CU's are Cumulative Updates and can be found "technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/ff800847"; and they are gradual updates that fix and improve sharepoint issues and features. I wanted to see what update you last applied. – Mike Mar 19 '12 at 14:01
Sorry I missed your reply yesterday Mike, I have just checked the server for updates and the logs, it looks like SP1 for sharepoint was waiting to be installed so I am currently doing that. I will then reply to your last message. How can I see the last updates applied in the logs are they contained in the actual logs or is it a specific log I am looking for? – MrWhippy Mar 20 '12 at 11:20
Mike you got the answer, although I am not sure how to give it to you on this site. It was indeed a lack of updates that had taken their time to come through sitting there and forcing all the updates through now means I can create new forms. – MrWhippy Mar 20 '12 at 13:55
