Seems I'm yet another victim of the sharepoint user profile synchronization. I'm fairly new to sharepoint and just wanted a simple email address for my accounts. The first problem is that I did the farm config wizard which created a default My Site application. There I couldn't get user profile sync to work. So I followed the technet article and created a new My Site web application. All good, but now I'm stuck with two, one where it is working and one where it's not.

In the sharepoint web application I've set my own user profile sync service app as default in the service connections. Now when I click on my profile in sharepoint it goes to the correct location. However, when I click on "My content" it goes to the old location (http://sharepoint/my/personal/administrator/). My profile location is "http://sharepoint:13605/Person.aspx?accountname=AD/Administrator"

Can anyone help? Thanks

Update: I tried with a different user (one where I didn't already click on "My Content" before. Now it tries to create "My Content" on the correct location BUT it ends with a 404 error on the following url sharepoint:13605/my/personal/USERX - When I click on "My content" again, it defaults to the old location: sharepoint/my/personal/USERX – Sven Feb 28 '12 at 10:09
Update: Now I've deleted to old user synchronization app but when I go to My Profile which worked before on the correct URL, I now get the error "Could not load user profile". When i look in the ULS I see "Exception occurred loading user profile (/Person.aspx?accountname=DOMAIN%5CAdministrator): Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileApplicationNotAvailableException‌: No User Profile Application available to service the request." - Anyone got an idea? – Sven Feb 28 '12 at 10:22
Update: I kept hitting the same road blocks so I just deleted my SP web app and my site web app and just started over using this guide: harbar.net/articles/sp2010ups.aspx - now everything seems to work – Sven Feb 28 '12 at 11:54
Looks like this is the same problem: sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/35756/… – rjcup3 May 9 '12 at 16:18
