  1. I have created virtual for WS 2008 R2 64.
  2. Should I create another virtual for SQL 2008 or install it on win 2008 created in step 1? Basically should I keep them in seperate virtual machine to mimic real world scenario?
  3. Is the 3rd step going to installing SP 2010? Should I create multiple vm for App server and WFE server (where app server can have CA, Index, other services). Do I need to setup AD group (like a fake AD group) in order sharepoint to work?

BTW: I am trying to create a play area but need to mimic real world scenario.

Looks like Andreas article's "andreasglaser.net/post/2009/11/17/…; has answers to my questions. But I would like get a review from pros as I never setup SP 2010 environment. – George Katab Oct 1 '11 at 19:28
I think to be able to answer your question you should supply a bit more information on what you are trying to achieve. E.g. what is the real world scenario you want to mimic and what is the 'play area' going to be used for. What aspects of SharePoint do you want to mimic - is it certain functionality, deployment, for load testing, security, ... – Bernd Rickenberg Oct 2 '11 at 8:25
