I just started working with SharePoint and I have one question. I have multiple team sites under one site collection. I'd like to aggregate all of these task lists into one giant "master task list" on another team site that updates as changes are made. I've tried using the content query web part but all it shows is the task name with a link to the actual task. I'd like the master list to be able to have the same exact data and columns on the other task lists.

You can customize the xsl to display the list as you need it to be. Or you can use search (no link to edit, however) to display all the tasks. –  wjervis Jul 18 '14 at 11:35
