SharePoint Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for SharePoint enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm looking into a way where I can allow a user to edit a parent list and also input into a child list (1 to many relationship)

I thought of using a dialog box that opens showing child list after saving the parent list. But the user may ignore the dialog box. I prefere this method as it is easier on the eye, perhaps using Javascript PreSaveAction() to open the child list and upon success saving the Parent.

Another approach is having a page where the Parent list and the child list can be edited together. The child list contains the time spend per activity. Then a save button will allow both lists to be saved.

Any ideas on how to solve this one?
